Light winds becalm amateur racers as pros prepare to do battle.
The Amateur portion of the Nestea Hungary World Cup drew to a close today with no further action after four great races yesterday. The light winds have meant that Kevin Pritchard (Starboard, Gaastra) has kept his lead over Pawel Hlavaty and Ron Ruiter, who was also first place amateur, current PWA number one Alison Shreeve (F2) took the honors in the women?s division and Oliver Tom Schliemann was first youth. Second and third amateurs were both Hungarians with Oliver Glofack and Gabor Kostzi finishing fifth and sixth overall.

Tomorrow will bring with it, the start of professional Championship racing here at Club Aliga, where the who?s who of international windsurfing will take to the waters to continue their challenge for the Nestea PWA Racing World Championship title.
After the first event of this years tour Alison Shreeve (F2) will be looking to defend her current lead against what is expected to be a very strong challenge from last years World Champion, Dorota Staszewska (Starboard, Gaastra). Staszewska is currently only in fourth place in the PWA Women?s race ranking after a below par start to the season in Gran Canaria, so she will undoubtedly be hungry to prove that her fall from grace is only temporary.
In the men?s division, competition is tight as three of the greatest PWA racers occupy the top three slots. Steve Allen (Fanatic, Neil Pryde) is no stranger to the winner?s podium, but he will have to fight hard to defend his current lead again 2003 World Champion Micah Buzianis (F2, North) and French superstar Antoine Albeau (AHD, Neil Pryde), who currently lie in second and third respectively. Currently sitting just outside of podium contention is Kevin Pritchard who, with more World Titles in the post Dunkerbeck era than any other windsurfer, can never be ruled out!
Racing proper kicks off at 10.30 tomorrow and we will bring you updates through the day.

The Nestea PWA Hungarian World Cup Day 2
The waiting continues whilst competitors and public enjoy another beautiful Hungarian summer day.
Early morning mist shrouded the shores of Lake Balaton this morning leaving an eerie feeling of anticipation among the waiting competitors. As the early morning sun started to burn through the fog, it was clear that it would be another scorcher and as the postponement flag went up at 10 o?clock the waiting began in earnest.
Yet again the wind teased and even managed to tempt a few sailors out for some 5 knot recreation, but by mid afternoon the breeze had relented once more to just an occasional breath.
Once more, the Nestea Dome became an oasis of refreshment in the form of ice cold Nestea to keep temperature below boiling in the spectacular weather.
By 4 o?clock, the wind had dropped still further so competition was cancelled for the day.
The PWA will sample Hungarian hospitality Budapest style this evening, ahead of what is expected to be the start of competition in the promised winds on Saturday afternoon.
