Amateur races take off as Hungary battens down the hatches and prepares for PWA Action.
In just 2 days time, PWA Racers will take to the waters of Lake Balaton for the first ever Nestea PWA Racing World Cup here in Hungary. Today?s racing saw Kevin Pritchard (Starboard, Gaastra) dominate pro?s and amateurs alike to lead the event overall, ahead of Pawel Hlavaty and Ron Ruiter, with veteran racer and PWA Chairman Phil McGain (Gaastra) close behind in fourth. Local Hungarian talent came in the form of Oliver Glofack in fifth place just behind McGain.

The AmSlam continues through tomorrow, before PWA Championship racing begins for real on Thursday. Steve Allen (Fanatic, Neil Pryde) currently leads the Nestea PWA Racing World Championship race ahead of 2003 World Champion Micah Buzianis (F2, North Sails) and Antoine Albeau (AHD, Neil Pryde).

Following on from the success the first racing event in Gran Canaria, all eyes will be on the shores of Lake Balaton to see who will prevail by the mid point of the tour.

Can Allen hold of Buzianis, or will Albeau and Pritchard come from behind?.? Stay tuned to

Update
The Nestea PWA Hungarian World Cup Day 1

Lake Balaton bathes in sunshine as winds just fail reach championship strengths and the waiting game begins.

Crystal clear skies and mirror calm waters were the beautiful, yet unfortunate sight that greeted competitors here at the Nestea PWA Hungarian World Cup. Once the contest had been declared officially open, the postponement flag was raised and sailors settled into a holding pattern.

The Nestea dome then became the centre of attention where sailors and VIP?s congregated to talk about everything from windsurfing to golf, whilst enjoying ice cold Nestea.

The morning rapidly developed into a truly spectacular day without a cloud in the sky and a gentle 5-knot breeze picking up from the North. Although it was windy enough to tempt several sailors onto the water the winds failed to quite reach the required minimum and despite the best efforts of sailors and the race committee, eventually competition was called off for the day.

With three days of racing left at the event, hopes are still high and forecasts look good for some serious racing. Stay tuned to www.pwaworldtour.com
