On the first first day of the comptition the riders performed unbelieveable high standards at the Red Bull King of the Bay Alacati. The turkish crowd on the beach was fiering up when the EFPT guys started their show on the water.
Once again Antxon Otaegui (NP/JP) took the victory of the single elimination showing his team mate Norman Günzlein (JP/NP) in the semifinals and the new gratuated Dr. Matteo Guazzoni (RRD/Simmer) who's the guy to beat.
But also Andre Paskowski (F2/North Sails) showed a very strong performance, especially at the battle at the small final. The technical skills on the tour are at the moment very close so that at the top rankings everybody is able to kick the bud of his competitor.
Incredible good conditions made it happen that on the second day of the competition the first double elimination is already done.
From the loosers round swedish rider Andreas Olanderson (JP/NP) made the biggest step forward and finished the double in fifth position eliminating Cakir (F2/North Sails), Petrisie (Exocet/Loft), Tine Slabe (F2/Naish) and Fillipo Buratti (Fanatic/North Sails). Norman Günzlein (JP/NP) was the one who was able to stop the run of Andreas.
But also the italien rider Filipo Buratti (Fanatic/North Sails) made a huge step forward at the double elimination, starting from 17th position he also made all the way up to the 6th place. On his way to the top he was elimination turkish rider Dalgic (F2/North Sails), the strong performing Israeli rider Nir Cohen (Tabou/Gaastra) and
Egor Popretinsky (JP/NP) from Russia.
Once again Andre Paskowski (F2/North Sails) made the double to a real dramatic elimination. First he beat his german mate Norman Günzlein (JP/NP) after this he run over Italien tour winner 04 Matteo Guazzoni (RRD/Simmer) to face one more time Spanish newcomer Antxon Otaegui (JP/NP).
Both riders seemed to be a bit nervous for the final as both of them showed better heats already. But at the end the higher frequency of moves from Antxon convinced the jury to vote for Antxon's victory.
On the third and also on the fourth day of the Red Bull King of the Bay Alacati the wind did not reach stable conditions so no further eliminations could be done.
The victory of the 2006 Red Bull King of the Bay Alacati goes to Antxon Otaegui(JP/NP) who wins against Andre Paskowski (F2/North) in the final of the double elimination.
The level of this years tour is better than ever before and this is also reflected by the results of 2006. So after 7 Events there are 3 riders leading at the top. Antxon Otaegui (JP/NP), Andre Paskwski (F2/North) and Norman Günzlein (JP/NP) are figthing for the 2006 title.
The tour now does a four weeks break to give the top riders the chance to compete on the world tour as well. Beginning of August we are back on track for the Samsung European Freestyle Jam in Bredene, Belgium.
