23. September 2005
The 2005 Nivea World Cup Sylt hosts the final for both the wave and racing tour and therefore promises to deliver a nerve wrecking eleven days of competition. Traditionally the sailors have been welcomed today by an overwhelming number of spectators during the opening ceremony, setting the tone for one of the biggest events on the tour.
According to the latest forecasts, the crowds are in for a spectacular show during the course of the event. With winds over 40 knots accompanied by a massive swell expected later this week, the wave sailors will have their hands full on Sylt's radical conditions. For the moment, Brazil's Kauli Seadi (BRA-253, Quatro/ Naish) holds on firmly to the crown after winning the Gran Canaria wave event and coming in second in both Guincho and Maui, but Seadi will have to stay on top of things right till the end. The top six contenders are all still well in the game for the title as it all comes down to what happens in the next days of Sylt's mayhem conditions.
?The forecast is looking really good right now, so hopefully it will hold up. Of course I hope to win this one, but we'll have to see and wait for the end of the event to find out who takes it?, as Kauli Seadi comments on things to come. ?This is the first time I've come here in the lead, so I'm stoked no matter what happens here.?
Everything is still up for grabs in the women's wave division as well, where Daida Moreno (E-64, Mistral/ North) is looking down on the rest of the fleet from the top, with Iballa Moreno (E-63, Mistral/ North) and Karin Jaggi (Z-14, F2) breathing down her neck looking to shake up the ranking in the closing contest of the season.

In the racing competition, Micah Buzianis (USA-34, F2/North) leads the way before Bjorn Dunkerbeck (E-11, North) after the first Slalom 42 event in Fuerteventura this summer and once again, it's all wide open for the overall title.
The forecast for both racing and wave performance is looking excellent for the days to come, so stay tuned to www.pwaworldtour.com as the action kicks off tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. Throughout the event, www.pwaworldtour.com has all the latest news, pictures and results from Sylt, Germany and of course the outcome of the 2005 wave and racing season.
