European Freestyle Pro Tour 2005
04.11.2005
|
 |
The 2005 season is history. After 10 events in 6 countries, we have a new European Champion. Kevin Mevissen (JP/NP NED-79) stands (again) on
the highest step of the podium!!! In 2nd and 3rd position: Andre Pakowski (F2/North Sails GER-2) and Normen Guenzlein (JP/NP GER-186).
The money is divided and this were 90.000 in total and we are talking about ?uros, baby.

As the Judges of the Tour, we can say with some pride that the boys
rocked Europe in an unforgettable way. And the action on land was most
of the times as rad as the moves these guys showed on the water. First Place: Kevin Mevissen (JP/Neil Pryde) Spunz, again. Pushing it always a little bit further, whenever he goes out there the fun is
just about to begin.
Make a move look easy - no problem for him? Only two events on the Tour had no results, Urnersee in Switzerland and unfortunately at the final in Premantura the red flag was the only sign on the judge tower. |
|
We could tell you that the waiting for wind made everyone tired and the
competitors were relieved to finish the season, but in fact this last 4 days
in Croatia showed again that this is more than a competition for money
and points.
The riders were hanging out together for the last time this
year and you could see in every face how happy everyone was with this
season. The family came together for the last party in this year, just to
split apart for the winter season and to meet again in spring for sure. |
|
|
Second Place: Andre Paskowski (F2/North Sails)
Paskalakowski!!!
How many moves fit in a 5min heat?
He knows it and is not afraid to show it, like a well tuned machine?
We started in France moved to Austria, Switzerland, then to 3 Greek
islands, after that to Belgium, Switzerland again, then to Austria for the
2nd time and in the end to Croatia.
The fight for points and the title was
always close, and if you don?t know the guys you might think that the
pressure on the leaders was always on a high level. We would say: the
boys handled it pretty well and everyone of them has the potential to
stand on top in the end. |
|
Third Place: Normen Günzlein (JP/Neil Pryde)
Here we have the 20 year old IFCA World Champion 2005
Scoring wherever, and not afraid of elderly women
A year like this deserves a book, to tell all stories, adventures and secret
stuff that happened.
It would start with all the illegal stuff like broken rental cars and overfilled
hotel rooms.
Four or five chapters of amazing Windsurfing in really beautiful places and
will end in a black chapter which no one ever would show to his kids.
This chapter would be full with stories about girls, parties and girls on
parties. How they hide their wedding rings and go crazy like there is no
tomorrow? |
|
|
Fourth Place: Andreas Olanderson (JP/Neil Pryde)!
The Swedish Pimp.
Radical style, quick moves, speed and he?s also good in Windsurfing? Now to the best part: We go on next year!!! The sport grows and the
interest to organize an EFPT Competition also. Who wouldn?t like to be a
part of this? Masses of spectators standing on a little beach, screaming
out loud because of amazing moves, yes please!!!
Mostly, all of this years events, will take part in the 2006 Tour, other
European countries want us to come, and although it gets harder and
harder for a EFPT member to get a rental car (for many different reasons,
not telling now) we will try to manage it.
|
|
Fifth Place: Matteo Guazzoni (RRD/Simmer Sails)
Italian Stallion
EFPT Champ 2004
Took it easy this year, representing the Pasta Gang in the top 5
Last but not least, Rookie of the Year:
Ruben Petrisie (no Board Sponsor/ no Sail Sponsor)
This Bon Aire guy came with his Dutch passport to Greece, joined the tour
after 3 events and made it to the 12th Place Overall.
Always friendly and always smiling he brings some colour into our little
tour.

So, this is the last info for some time, the curtain goes down and the competitors start to make their plans for the winter. Europe is getting colder and the wind will be hard to find in our regions now, so the guys have to travel again and they will. Most of them will move to warmer countries, where the wind keeps on blowing. We can?t wait to see which new moves they will bring home for the 2006 Tour, but we are pretty sure the level will go up and the next season will be again mind-blowing?
We would like to say ?thanks?
To the Windsurf industry for their support and believe in this Tour To all the organisers, without whom the tour would not happen To the Sponsors, and there have been a lot of them Thanks to the media, for doing a great job and also for the believe And of course to every Windsurfer who watched the action on the water and enjoyed what they saw, damn sure you did?
Aloha To all of you
Monty and DaMike
