SECOND DAY OF COMPETITION AT STARBOARD ALOHA CLASSIC WAVE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Maui, Hawaii (USA) ? Blue sky and sunshine over Maui?s Northshore, with stronger winds and yesterday?s rain was gone, so the conditions at Maui?s Ho?okipa Beach Park were just great for today?s second day of the historic 20th anniversary of the Aloha Classic. Over 300 people gathered at Ho?okipa to enjoy some great action on the water, with the WOMEN OPEN and MEN MASTERS Divisions run as scheduled. There were 16 women in the WOMEN OPEN and 16 men in the MEN MASTERS.

Aloha Classic veteran Judge Rob Funk was happy, “Conditions were great, the waves were really good and there is a wonderful spirit here at the event. The girls ripped on the water, especially Jennifer (Henderson), Ann-Marie (Reichmann) and Junko.
It was also good to see the Masters like Alex Aguera and our co-judge Luke Hargreaves out there! For tomorrow the forecast is for steadier wind and bigger waves, perfect for the MENS OPEN!”
Proud dad of 2004 junior winner Kai Lenny, Martin Lenny didn’t advance in his heat but still loved it, “Just being out there today was fantastic! It really is a good event and all goes so well, with great conditions!” |

Check out tomorrow’s exciting day of MENS OPEN which guarantees fantastic wave action with many of Maui’s top Wave Sailors. Special thanks for the great staff catering to Kama’aina kitchen and Event Masters, while watching the action on the water and enjoying one of their fabulous Papaya-Brie quesadillas or excellent Thai BBQ chicken!
And don’t forget, the awards ceremony is Saturday Nov 12th at 5PM in Paia, in front of Simmer Style Maui/Livewire café. The post event party is that same night at Jacques Northshore Bistro, in Paia across the street at 10PM where DJ Ray Masters will be spinning tunes. |
