The Italian Matteo Guazzoni wins the Freestyle Competition of the STIMOROL Engadinwind 2006
With ideal conditions it was possible to finish the freestyle competition including the double elimination. Tricks on the highest level were to see. The competitors from all over Europe and over sea bedazzled the crowd with Chachos, One handed Flakas oder Spoke 540, the most even switchstance gefa. With a flimsy legde the Italian Matteo Guazzoni ended as winner of the Freestyle Competition. On the 2nd place was Andre Paskowski from Germany and on 3rd Remko de Weerd from Holland. With his tricks, the Swedish Andreas Olandersson ended on the 4th place and Ruben Petrisie from the Netherlands Antilles made the 5th place.
The conditions were perfect: with an average windspeed of 16 knots it was possible to finish the freestyle competition including a double elimination. The suspence was big but in the end the Italian Matteo Guazzoni convinced the internation jury and won the freestyle competition in front of Andre Paskowski (GER) and Remko de Weerd (NED). It was a beautiful freestyle day on the Lake Silvaplana today. The organisation, sponsors and competitors enjoyed the sun and action on the water. The first Euro Cup riders are arriving today: tomorrow, Wednesday the 16th of August the Slalom- and Formulasurfers will take over the action on the water.
The speed disciplines of the Euro Cup are this year again a part of the wide program at the STIMOROL Engadinwind. Also competing is the new slalom world champion and fastest windsurfer of the world: Finian Maynard from the British Virgin Islands.
Also other Speed-Windsurf Stars such as Steve Allen (AUS), Ross Williams (GBR) and Dagan Arnon (ISR) are going to compete on the Lake Silvaplana. Karin Jaggi from Switzerland also arrived today and will start in front of the homelike crowd tomorrow at the Euro Cup.
On August 19th the legendary Engadin Surf Marathon will be a part of the program for the 29th time in a row. It shall be 100% fun for all the surfers participating at the longest and highest set surf regatta worldwide.
Meanwhile the attractive course can be watched by the crowd from the shore of the Lake Silvaplana. The marathon is a classic discipline among the windsurfers and will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year.
