Birthday Kid Ruben Petrisie from Bonaire shows hot action on the cold water in the Engadin

The outside temperature is low and the water cold here in Silvaplana. Nevertheless the Freestyle riders got ready to start the action short after ten this morning, when the wind came up. It was an unsteady and choppy wind here on the Lake Silvaplana but it was still possible to pass some heats. The organization is confident to continue with the Freestyle competition tomorrow.

Not only a few were surprised when the wind came up this morning, in opposition to all the weather forecasts. The Freestylers from all over Europe got ready to start shortly later the action on the water. There is always two windsurfers competing head to head. During five minutes they have the opportunity to show their best tricks in front of an international jury. The one showing the more difficult and stylish tricks is reaching the next heat.

On Wednesday the 16 th of August the Slalom- and Formulasurfers will take over the action on the water. The speed disciplines of the Euro Cup are this year again a part of the wide program at the STIMOROL Engadinwind. Also competing is the new slalom world champion and fastest windsurfer of the world: Finian Maynard from the British Virgin Islands .

Currently the Euro Cup windsurfers are in Poland where the event finished today. They are traveling towards Silvaplana now.

On August 19 th the legendary Engadin Surf Marathon will be a part of the program for the 29 th time in a row. It shall be 100% fun for all the surfers participating at the longest and highest set surf regatta worldwide. Meanwhile the attractive course can be watched by the crowd from the shore of the Lake Silvaplana . The marathon is a classic discipline among the windsurfers and will celebrate its 30 th anniversary next year.
