Engadinwind 2006 in occasion of the project Eventcenter Silvaplana.

Everything is ready for the start of the Freestyle Competition of the STIMOROL Engadinwind 2006. Participants from more than 10 countries arrived in Silvaplana and are waiting fort he starting signal. Unfortunatly the weather is not allowing this as far: The wind is not strong enough to do the first freestyle heats. But the windsurfers are nevertheless not bored: numerous acts are entertaining the crowd on the event area.

A special happening act as the official opening of the event: architecture students from the TU Munich and the HTW Chur presented their Eventcenter projects which are in connection with the events in the Engadin.

Even there is no wind at the moment in the Engadin, the waiting participants and spectators don't get bored: there is a lot to do and see on the event area this year. For example the huge screen truck of the Saab/Salomon Adrenaline Tour, on which thrilling spors videos are shown. Playstation is entertaining the hold out crowd with videogames and at the tent of the title sponsor Stimorol everybody can try their remote-controlled skills doing car races.

There was a special opening of the event this year: architecture students of the TU Munich and of HTW Chur presented their latest project which is in connection with the events in the Engadin: a new event center is developed which is fulfilling the demands of the event organization. The futuristic archetypes were presented today and awarded from the critical jury. Star-Architect Normen Foster was welcomed as a guest of the Stimorol Engadinwind. One of the projects will be realized until next year and will be standing on the area of the Stimorol Engadinwind.

As well competitors as exhibitors and the organization are confident to be able to start with the sporting action tomorrow. The freestyle competition will be the first action on the water. Windsurfers from more than 10 nations arrived already in Silviplana and are ready to start the competition and collect points for the overall ranking of the European Freestyle Pro Tour (EFPT).

On Wednesday the 16 th of August the Slalom- and Formulasurfers will take over the action on the water. The speed disciplines of the Euro Cup are this year again a part of the wide program at the STIMOROL Engadinwind. Also competing is the new slalom world champion and fastest windsurfer of the world: Finian Maynard from the British Virgin Islands .

On August 19 th the legendary Engadin Surf Marathon will be a part of the program for the 29 th time in a row. It shall be 100% fun for all the surfers participating at the longest and highest set surf regatta worldwide. Meanwhile the attractive course can be watched by the crowd from the shore of the Lake Silvaplana . The marathon is a classic discipline among the windsurfers and will celebrate its 30 th anniversary next year.
