This is a perfect beginner or freestyle spot, when the tide is out it is a small lagoon with glassy flat water even if there is 40 knots of wind. Once the tide rises over the sandbar there is enough room for small chop to build. This is one of those spots where you can see beginners taking their first steps on a board right next to the local hotshots doing their switch chachoos!!! Rusheen is totaly enclosed with only a small channel giving access to Galway bay. It is possible to sail from here up to the bump and jump spot at Silver Strand.

Rusheen has an excellent windsurf school run, and a shop where you can replace any equipment that you manage to break on your trip through Ireland. The school can be contacted by looking up www.rusheenbay.com

Anfahrt:	From Galway City centre, follow the signs for Salthill. At salthill the sea will be on your left, continue on, losing sight of the see for about 1km. At the T-Junction, turn left for Barna/Spiddal. About 300 meters from this turning you will see a narrow lane branching off to your left, at the gates of Rusheen Bay Riding Centre. There is a sign for Rusheen Bay Windsurfing there also. Follow this lane until you get to the water.

Parking:	Some parking right at the water, Carpark floods at high tide... and at High springs there is no carpark!!!
Beach:	Lowtide entry from beach, High tide entry from Carpark!!!
Wind:	Best in a SW or W
Wave:	Totally enclosed, no waves.
