Quilty is a spot with many different aspects. On one day this spot can give glassy flat water with enough wind for 4.0 sail, and the next day all the reefs can be firing with huge down the line waveriding. There are 2 beaches in Quilty the North and South Beach. The North Beach has 2 launch spots, one for low tide and one for high tide. To get to the low tide lauch, turn right at the town of quilty and drive along the coast for about 2km. You will come to a 90 degree left hand bend in the road, with a narrow track going straight. Park in this narrow lane and walk straight to the end of it where there is a relativly easy way that you can climb to the beach with your gear. When the tide is really low there is a line of fin breaking rocks 100m straight out from the beach, either stay inside these rocks or blast along outside, if you keep going in and out you are playing Russian Roulette with your fin. The currents further out can get reasonably strong so it is better to be aware of what the tide is doing if you are going to do long runs out to see here (I would advise against it unless you, know what you are doing and are familiar with local tides). The reefs on the outside here can give some good waves but be carefull they are really shallow in places.

The High tide launch spot is close to the Pier, continue following the road the around to the left after the low tide spot, and take the next right, before you get to the pier there is a narrow right hand turn where you can drive onto the beach. The reef straigth in front is dry most of the time and is only sailable about 2 hours either side of high (spring) tides. With a good swell and SW wind it can be a super fun down the line wave sailing spot. When there is no waves it can be a reasonable beginner spot here and good for freestyle too.

To access the south beach continue driving towards the pier along the road, there is a narrow sandy lane to the left just before the pier. Take this and park on the hill overlooking the beach. This beach works for South East and North West winds, it can sometimes get some waves but usually it is more a blasting and freestyle spot.
