Cross Strand, Mayo, Ireland

Cross Strand faces almost due west and is totally open to any swell coming in off the Atlantic. It is a long sandy beach with the possibility to launch almost anywhere along its lenght. The waves here are beach break so when it gets bigger it can be difficult to get out back, Works best in Northerly or Sourtherly winds, but can be good when there is also a LITTLE east or west in the wind direction.

Anfahrt:	From Westport follow signposts for Louisberg, Once there head south towards Leenane, but take the turn off for Silverstrand. Just before Silverstrand turn right for Cross Strand. From Galway, Head towards Ouchterard and Maam Cross, Turn right at Maam Cross and follow signposts to Leenane. Turn right at Leenane and follow the water on your left for about 5km, then take a left and drive along the other side of the Fiord. Follow the road towards Louisberg untill you come to the left turn to Silverstrand. Follow the road towards Silverstrand just before you get there there is a signpost for cross strand.

Beach:	Sandy beach with some stones near the Spring tide High Water Mark
Wind:	Wind can be anything from flat calm to 60+ knots.
Wave:	Beach Break with some offshore reefs.
